Health Sciences Post Graduate Centre

The Health Sciences Post Graduate Centre is a unit within the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg.

Its research strengths lie in occupational and environmental health, oncology pharmacy safety and infectious disease epidemiology, with a strong emphasis on HIV prevention, maternal and child health and health systems strengthening. Work on antineoplastic drug exposure and pharmacy standards sits alongside studies of prevention of mother-to-child transmission and HIV awareness.

Further themes include geospatial analysis, machine learning in public health, digital health implementation, community-based research on behavioural health and risk perception, and sustainable bio-processing. The research is focused on Sub-Saharan Africa, supporting safer oncology practice, workforce protection and equitable healthcare delivery.
