Dr. Aviva Ruch

Aviva Ruch is a South African researcher whose work centres on primary health care, HIV management, and gender-based violence within clinical settings. Affiliated with academic and public health initiatives in South Africa, her scholarship reflects a strong commitment to strengthening frontline health systems and improving patient-centred care in resource-constrained contexts.

Her publications explore barriers to timely switching to second-line antiretroviral therapy, highlighting provider, patient, and systemic challenges in primary care facilities. She has also contributed to major collaborative research on HIV prevention, including studies on the dapivirine vaginal ring, supporting its safety, uptake, and real-world applicability for women in sub-Saharan Africa.
