Dr. Shuaib Kauchali

Shuaib Kauchali is a South African public health researcher whose work centers on health systems strengthening, maternal and neonatal health, and implementation science. Closely associated with national quality improvement initiatives, including the Mphatlalatsane programme, his scholarship examines how leadership, teamwork, and contextual adaptation shape the performance of facility-based quality improvement teams, particularly during periods of crisis such as COVID-19.

His publications demonstrate strong expertise in qualitative and mixed-methods evaluation, with a focus on translating policy into practice within routine public sector services. Recurrent themes include leader motivation, organisational culture, mentorship, and scalable models for improving care quality.
