Aspro Jude Igumbor

Jude Igumbor is a public health researcher whose work centres on maternal, child, and reproductive health in sub-Saharan Africa. With extensive collaborations across African institutions, his scholarship addresses health systems strengthening, community-based health surveillance, and equitable access to care. His research is widely recognised for advancing evidence-informed policy and practice in low- and middle-income settings.

A major focus of his recent work examines HIV prevention among pregnant and breastfeeding women, particularly the uptake and delivery of pre-exposure prophylaxis. Drawing on behavioural science frameworks and mixed-methods designs, he explores social norms, service delivery preferences, and structural barriers shaping maternal health behaviours. He also investigates antenatal care utilisation and determinants of timely access to services across multiple African countries.

Igumbor has contributed to scholarship on patient-centred care, shared decision-making in chronic disease management, oral health-related quality of life, and community surveillance of maternal and child deaths. His work on doctoral supervision and African health journals further reflects a commitment to research capacity strengthening and knowledge production on the continent.
