Adj David Moore

David Moore is a South African clinician-researcher in paediatric infectious diseases, closely associated with national surveillance platforms and academic hospitals in South Africa. His work spans vaccine-preventable diseases, respiratory viral infections, and antimicrobial resistance, contributing to policy-relevant evidence in high-burden, resource-limited settings.

His research explores the epidemiology and clinical impact of pathogens such as respiratory syncytial virus, human metapneumovirus, pneumococcus, and emerging viruses, with a strong focus on severe childhood pneumonia and vaccine impact. He has also examined outcomes in vulnerable groups, including transplant recipients, and has helped refine risk stratification to guide hospital-based care.
