Adj Jaya George

Jaya George is a South African researcher whose work bridges nephrology, endocrinology, and public health, with a strong focus on cardiometabolic disease in sub-Saharan Africa. Affiliated with leading academic and clinical research institutions in South Africa, her research integrates laboratory science, epidemiology, and health systems analysis to address the growing burden of noncommunicable diseases.

Her scholarship highlights hypertension, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, and menopause-related cardiometabolic risk, particularly among Black African populations and people living with HIV. She has advanced understanding of urinary proteomics as a tool for early kidney disease detection and evaluated diagnostic strategies for gestational diabetes and renal dysfunction in resource-limited settings.

Through systematic reviews, national laboratory data analyses, and community-based studies, George contributes evidence to improve screening, guideline adherence, and integration of HIV and NCD care.
