Adj Ashraf Coovadia

Ashraf Coovadia is a South African clinician-researcher affiliated with the University of the Witwatersrand, with a strong academic presence in paediatrics and child health. His work is widely recognized in the fields of paediatric HIV, maternal–child health, and health systems strengthening in resource-constrained settings. He contributes to both clinical research and health services scholarship, bridging frontline care with policy-relevant evidence.

His research centers on children living with HIV, examining antiretroviral therapy effects on bone health, growth, body composition, immune outcomes, and early-life viral dynamics.
