Dr. Poovangela Naidoo

Poovangela Naidoo is a South African obstetrician and gynecologist affiliated with the University of the Witwatersrand and Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital. Her academic work centers on maternal–fetal medicine, with a strong emphasis on improving outcomes in high-risk pregnancies within resource-constrained settings. She has contributed to clinical research published in leading obstetrics and gynecology journals.

Her research focuses prominently on postpartum hemorrhage, including innovative, low-cost uterine tamponade techniques such as suction tube uterine tamponade. Through feasibility trials and randomized studies, she has advanced evidence on accessible interventions for hemorrhage management and explored provider perspectives influencing implementation and research uptake.
