Overview
Supports experienced independent scientists seeking substantial changes in research direction or new research capabilities. The senior fellowship provides a period of research training aligned with participating NIH institute priorities.
Eligibility
Wits may host an eligible fellow, but the individual must be a US citizen, US national or US permanent resident by the award date. Applicants need at least seven years of relevant research or professional experience and an established independent research career. Training outside the US requires a specific scientific justification.
Additional deadlines
Next application deadline, including permitted resubmissions: 8 December 2026. Submit by 17:00 local time of the applicant organisation. Call expiration: 8 May 2028. This is separate from the application deadline.
