Overview
Supports individually mentored doctoral research training and dissertation research in health-related science. Fellows may gain experience in a sponsor-led clinical trial but cannot lead an independent clinical trial under this award.
Eligibility
Wits may host an eligible fellow, but the individual must be a US citizen, US national or US permanent resident by the award date. Applicants must be enrolled in a PhD or equivalent research doctorate programme. Training outside the US requires a specific scientific justification.

Next application deadline, including permitted resubmissions: 8 December 2026. Submit by 17:00 local time of the applicant organisation. Call expiration: 8 May 2028. This is separate from the application deadline.
