Supports early translational studies of candidate treatments for neurological or neuromuscular disorders, including drug activity, pharmacokinetics and efficacy in living models. Projects should establish evidence needed for subsequent therapeutic development.
Funding amount
Up to USD 750,000 in direct costs over 3 years; maximum USD 499,000 per year
Eligibility
Wits may apply as a non-US higher education institution. Proposals must fit this call and the mission of a participating institute; institutional registrations and funder requirements apply.

Next application deadline, including permitted resubmissions: 20 October 2026. Submit by 17:00 local time of the applicant organisation. Call expiration: 21 October 2027. This is separate from the application deadline.
